Our RYA Day Skipper training will guide you through preparation for sea, deck work, navigation, pilotage, and meteorology. Learn the rules of the road, maintenance and repair work, engines, and how to cope in emergency situations. Passage making and night cruising are highlights of the RYA Day Skipper course. You should also have visited some of the most beautiful landscape in Tuscany and had an enjoyable holiday sailing around Elba Island, Corsica and Isola di Capraia. All islands within a short distance reachable within a few hours of sailing.
- Pre-course experience: 5 days sea time, 100 miles, 4 night hours.
- Assumed knowledge: Navigation to day Skipper Shorebased and basic sailing ability.
- Minimun duration: 5 days. We offer a full week experience
- Course content: Preparation for sea, deck work, navigation, pilotage, meteorology, rules of the road, maintenance and repair work, engines, victualing, emergency situations, yacht handling under power, yacht handling under sail, passage making, night cruising.
- Ability after the course: Skipper a small yacht in familiar waters by day. The full course syllabus is contained within the RYA Yachtmaster Logbook G158. Program: Rendez-vous at 5:00 PM on Saturday for a brief introduction; boat preparation and provisioning. Safety briefing and itinerary planning. Set sail towards the most beautiful bays and charming harbors of Tuscany and Corsica while everyone takes turns performing all roles aboard throughout the various days. Sleeping on board, we'll move between different locations every day. Return on Friday evening; debriefing and check-out on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM. The fee includes:
- 6 days of training led by a qualified RYA instructor, aboard one of our modern and fast yacht.
- Bed linens, blankets, and towels, final cleaning of the boat.
- Onboard Wi-Fi.
- Moorings costs at Marina Cala de Medici.
- RYA Day Skipper certificates (upon successful completion) Extras:
- Food & Drinks also for the instructor.
- Fuel.
- Moorings costs other than the base marina.
- Transfer and parking to and from Cala de Medici.
Private tuition and exclusive boat charter always available under request.
